We can create with you a unique blend of related technical instruction (to help shore-up the trainee’s core skill base) and structured on-the-job training to ensure each worker’s accelerated mastery of the job classification for which they were hired. We will work with you to set the bar high, build a program that will develop each worker to that bar, track and report each worker’s progress and provide overall project implementation support. This approach is consistent with, and significantly supports, ISO/IATF/AS quality certification programs, continuous improvement, Lean efforts and safety compliance.
Many of our “hybrid” training programs are registered as apprenticeships under the US Department of Labor’s “hybrid” or “competency” model guidelines established in 2008. Our programs will reduce your internal costs of training significantly, while increasing worker capacity, work quality and compliance. Once the structured on-the-job training (“SOJT”) program is established for an employer’s targeted job classification(s), the employer’s subject matter experts are trained as certified resident trainers to train the apprentice to mastery of actual job-tasks. Combined with a prescribed list of related technical instruction from public educational institutions or private training providers, this approach can shrink the time needed to complete from the traditional 8-year program to 2-4 years, depending on the occupation. This is accomplished by focusing the program to precise employer needs.
Either model – competency or hybrid – is a very cost-effective and efficient way to provide career paths to an employer-hosted apprenticeship training system, successfully registered in some states. SOJT will be conducted and documented to enhance and document the trainee’s actual work experience gained in a portfolio certified and signed by the employer and educational institution. Skilled, competent workers will not train themselves and are not “out there” in large supply. If your company is in need of workforce development support and interested in applying for applicable state training grants to help leverage your own investment to the max, we should talk right away. We will be happy to set up a GoToMeeting presentation for you and your decision makers to discuss our successful workforce development approach that has worked for manufacturers, discuss a project proposal and, if interested, discuss how we will research grant opportunities to help defray a client’s investment. A mere 30-40 minutes should do it. What do you have to lose?
